About Me

Who am I?

Hello! My name is Lindsey.

I am an artist, mama of two, wife, novice photographer, music lover, and a general creative. One of my greatest joys outside of motherhood and quilting is the simple act of enjoying life. Every day is an adventure and I’m just happy to be here!

I made my first quilt mid-2020 and despised every second of it. Seriously. I gave quilting a second chance in 2021. I quickly fell head over heels with sewing as a means of creative expression.

My Quilting Journey

I grew up watching my grandmother lovingly sew hundreds of tied quilts for each of her grandbabies and great grandbabies. I fondly remember several summer nights where I’d sit at the end of her desk, observing the rhythm of her hands as they methodically folded and tucked prairie points into the edges of her quilts. When I was old enough, she let me join.

While I had intermittent access to a sewing machine throughout my childhood, my first large project didn’t happen until the summer of 2020. As a young mother staring into the face of a global pandemic, I decided that I needed to find a hobby to fill my time at home, so what better thing to do than to make a quilt for my son’s big boy bed? Surely it couldn’t be that hard.

Spoiler alert: It. Was. Awful.

Could it have been because my first quilt was a twin size that I had to drag through the throat space of a standard domestic sewing machine? Or was it because I did not know what basting was, which meant manhandling three unsecured layers through said machine? Regardless, it was a challenge, and I vowed off quilts forever. I picked up smaller projects, such as baby bonnets, but the joy wasn’t all there, either.

Fast forward to the early spring of 2021. At this point, I was in the second trimester of my second pregnancy. This time, expecting a little girl. I looked down at my son nestled in his mama-made quilt, and thought, “you know, this baby deserves an heirloom from their mama, too. I’ll give it one more attempt to make her a quilt.”

I was smitten.
