About the Meagan’s Star Block

Hello, sweet friends!

Fiona of Mommy and Me Quilt Co and I are excited to share a special something that we have been working on together: the Meagan’s Star quilt block!

This project was inspired by Meagan Guité, the project coordinator of Ruby Star Society. Fiona and I have had the privilege of getting to know Meagan through the Ruby Star Society Makers program. It has been a joy to work with Meagan, to see her creativity shine on Instagram, and to connect with her over our many shared interests. Earlier this year, Meagan was diagnosed with breast cancer. Fiona and I were both shocked and heartbroken to hear the news, and immediately knew that we wanted to do something personal to aid Meagan in her treatment and recovery. Enter the Meagan’s Star block.

The Meagan’s Star block was first and foremost created as a fundraising effort for Meagan. We knew that we wanted this pattern to be versatile in the sense that it could be used as a single block or as part of something bigger. Whether you use this block in a bee quilt, a scrappy quilt, or as a small project, we hope that you feel the same sense of community that we have experienced as a direct result of Meagan.

Making Magic with the Meagan’s Star Block

The Meagan’s Star block is highly versatile, perfect for standalone projects and quilts alike. When incorporated into a quilt, the repetition of the block brings out a lattice and star motif, making for a truly stunning sewing bee or scrap project. We hope that these colorways provide the inspiration you need to start your next big project.
